Aqua Film Festival, Third edition in Rome from June 7th to the 9th in Rome

The third edition of “Aqua Film Festival”, international short film festival, with meetings, workshops, and special events dedicated to the theme of water, and created by an idea of Eleonora Vallone, actress, journalist and expert of water sports and wellness, will take place from June 7th to the 9th in Rome.

The festival programme will capture topical environmental issues, through a selection of short films and “mini” short films dedicated to the theme of water. The films presented will focus on the important relationship between human beings and the nature, “a link to safeguard – Vallone explains – because invasive interventions may produce an irreversible environmental decline”. Along with the competition, the programme will include a rich schedule of special events and meetings with celebrities from the show business, cinema and TV.

Invitations to tender to the official competition are open. Two sections are involved: one for short films up to 25 minutes and one for “mini” short films up to 3 minutes, also shot by smartphones, both dedicated to the theme of water. The main theme is divided in two sub-topics, where the authors can draw their inspiration: “Water of Island” and “Water & the Environment”. Works can be of any kind (fiction, documentary, live action, cartoons, mixed-techniques etc.). Films may be registered on the website www.acquafilmfestival.org until May 5th. The international Jury, composed by experts and players from the world of cinema, will award two “Sister Water” prizes to the best short film and the best mini short film.

Among this year’s innovation, the Aqua & Students competition, created thanks to the collaboration with schools from the Elba island and the International University of Monaco, is dedicated to mini short films (up to 3 minutes) made by students from schools and universities. Mini short films may be shot with smartphones, and will have WATER, in all its forms and functions, as the main player.

The winner films, beyond receiving the official prizes indicated in the regulations and on the website, will be screened in Monaco.

Aqua Film Festival is realised by the Association Universi Aqua, and is supported by: Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, Italian Ministry of the Environment, Ancim – National Association of Small Islands, C.O.N.I. – Italian Olympic Committee, Environmental League, Amref Health Africa, Italian Cinema Experimental Centre, Consulate of the Principality of Monaco in Florence, International University of Monaco, Schools of the Elba Island and Portoferraio, Coming soon.
